The transition from QCPP to the Quality and Safety Pharmacy Program (QSPP) reflects the continued evolution of community pharmacy practice in Australia.
QSPP builds on the strengths of QCPP while shifting the emphasis from compliance alone to the effective delivery of quality and safety in everyday practice. Pharmacies are not being asked to fundamentally change what they do, but to demonstrate more clearly how quality, safety, and clinical governance support patient care.
By assessing compliance against the Australian Community Pharmacy Standard (AS85000:2024), QSPP strengthens the credibility of community pharmacy, supports future scope of practice, and positions the profession as a trusted and integral part of Australia’s primary healthcare system.
