What is QSPP accreditation?

QSPP accreditation recognises that a community pharmacy is compliant with AS85000:2024 and demonstrates a commitment to excellence and quality in patient care.

Check out our Program Overview for more information.

What does QSPP assess?

QSPP assesses pharmacies across four domains:

  • Clinical governance and leadership
  • Safely delivering medicines and pharmacy services
  • Partnering with consumers and the community
  • Business governance and operations

For more information on the domains click here.

Are QSPP requirements the same as State requirements?

Pharmacies must comply with all State-based regulatory requirements in addition to QSPP requirements.

QSPP has been developed to align as closely as possible with State and Territory frameworks and contemporary regulatory expectations. While QSPP accreditation does not replace legislative obligations, it has been designed to complement and support compliance with relevant jurisdictional laws.

How is the assessment conducted?

Accreditation assessments are conducted on-site. Transition assessments and mid-cycle reviews are conducted virtually via the Customer Portal.

Who needs to be present during the assessment?

At least one pharmacy owner must be physically present for the duration of any onsite QSPP assessment, unless otherwise agreed in writing by QSPP.

All staff in the pharmacy play a role in QSPP implementation. Ensuring the appropriate personnel are available supports an efficient and effective assessment process.

Will the assessor need a private space?

A quiet area with a table and chair is needed for the assessment. A private room is ideal but not mandatory.

Do I need to show confidential documents?

You may need to show confidential documents where required for evidence. Assessors are bound by confidentiality agreements.

'Commercial or personal information may be redacted if not relevant to the requirement.

What evidence should I have ready prior to the assessment?

You can find examples of monitoring and evidence for the assessment in the User Assessment Guide.

What are acceptable file types when uploading evidence?

Evidence can be uploaded as jpg, pdf, Excel or Word files. We do not accept HEIC files (which are often used on Mac operating systems).

The portal does not accept ‘live’ photos. Turn off the live photo feature prior to taking images you intend to upload as evidence.

What happens after the assessment?

An interim report will be available in the Customer Portal within 21 days of your assessment. This report will outline any major or minor non-conformances that were identified during the assessment, why they were identified, and the timeframe for completion.

What are corrective actions?

Corrective actions are defined as the action or actions required to resolve a Non-Conformance. They identify those areas requiring improvement to eliminate the causes of the non-conformance and reduce long-term risk.

When submitting your corrective actions on the QSPP Customer Portal, you must remove any personal details from the evidence.
